You have quite a bit of room for improvement in your driving and short game if you are in the mid 90s. Once you get those mastered then think about the long irons. The normal length courses have little need for long irons except on the par 3s. The fairway woods, hybrids and rescue clubs have pretty much eliminated the long iron (2, 3, and 4).

Many folks will try to sweep their long irons rather than hit down on the ball, this will produce a glancing blow and likely an open clubface . Try standing a little closer to the ball, move it just forward of center in your stance, and swing on a more upright plane. It is a good swing thought to try and reach behind your right ear, pause and then come DOWN into the ball. Remember, hit down to get the ball up.

oKey dokie........mid 90's???....I don't want to sound critical here...but if you are shooting mid 90's you honestly need to work on all aspects of your game.....Not just your long irons. I'd advise lessons and dedicated practice......The one constant place that one can lower their score is short game which you say is exceptional........I'd still say you probably need to spend time on this. The lessons will help with the long irons and help you with better accuracy as well.

Try This: Go down a club on your long irons and take a much slower swing and make it a full complete follow thru. Or use a fairway wood, a easy swing with a full follow thru.
